Default Fault code 32 help.

My 95 wrx wagon is running 0.5 bar of boost and coming up with fault 32.
I presume that the oxygen sensor is the lambda sensor, now I only fitted one of these about 18 months ago, is there a way of checking to see if it definitely is goosed.

Need to get a multimeter acroos it. It should continually cycle up and down beteen 0 and 0.9V. If it's stuck on a voltage reading, then prob goosed.

Re-test it on a fully warmed up engine at idle only. Is it still stuck at 0.3V or other?

If so, then don't be tempted to get a pattern O2 sensor - they tend not to last too long. 6 months if lucky. I'd personally get a pukka OEM one. Okay it'll cost around £170 or so, but will be a fit and forget purchase.

The only other one I'd consider is the cheaper Bosch LS02 - or it might be LS01 - depending on how many wires it has. Can be obtained from Just Lambda...

Rather than start a new post I thought I'd continue this one as I have a similar problem......

We have a 1999 model Legacy GT Estate car, the twin turbo one & the engine check light came on yesterday. I done the diagnostics thing & it came up with code 32 which I believe to be oxygen sensor.

As above, is oxygen sensor the Lambda sensor ?

If so, where about is it please....we just got the car yesterday.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
David

Yes, O2 = oxygen = Lambda. All the same sensor.

Not too clued up on Leggies. The 1999 Impreza has both the EGT and lambda sensors in the catted downpipe i.e. the snake-like pipe immediately off the back of the turbo. Don't know if that helps.

Bottom line: it'll prob be on the headers somewhere (look underneath the car at the bottom of the heads), or as above, after the turbo/s....

The 1999 Impreza doesn't have an egt sensor, only MY01 onwards WRX vehicles had that, even the extra sensor in the early car was only a thermal switch..

It will be the lambda/oxy sensor, you need to fit the genuine Subaru part otherwise they do not last long especially when in the headers as the leggy's.

cheers

O/T for a bit...

Really? What does the ECU do if the cat gets too hot? Or does that scenario never come about?
