A socket and ratchet on the crank?

Put it in 4th and push the car forward, will also turn the engine over but you may drop a ball as it'll be heavy
Or possibly removing fuel pump relay and cranking should stop it from trying to fire.

Pull off the connector to the crank sensor, then turn it over on the starter?

crank it till the oil light goes out once you have unplugged the sensor the one next to the lamda probe its the bigger one under the plastic cover drivers side in the engine bay.

The CEL will come on when the crank sensor is pulled but the car will be perfectly drivable with it back in.
I can't remember if the CEL will go after a number of subsequent starts with it back in, or only by an ECU reset?

Coil on plug is better, theoretically. The newage version is different to the way it was done on the early classics.

theoretically....(yes)
but price wise is it better??
problem with these is if one goes down (its best to replace all four, well recommended)
or if you replace one its not that long untill the rest are not perfoming as the new one is....
they know how to make there money, dont they...
barrel,and over,come to mind.........haha

To answer that question you'd need some sort of comparative data on the reliability of the two solutions. If the newage CoP packs are significantly more reliable than the classic double coilpacks then your point's moot anyway.

Recommended by whom? If one goes, replace one, simple. Dumping the other three on the offchance is a pointless waste of money, especially given that if you don't know they're deteriorating, chances are they're 100%.

It goes away after five or six starts - well, on a 2003 it does at least.

It's not under the cambelt cover Wayne, it's above it, directly underneath the alternator.
