Question ANTI LAG and fuel pumps

Hi guys,

I'm just about to put a VF34 turbo on my ver6 STi.
I've got a simtek ecu and full decat with no other mods (apart from air filter).

Before I get it mapped (and also having anti lag put on), I'm thinking of putting a walbro fuel pump in.

Question is would I then need to get the 565 pink injectors or can I stick with the standard 440's?

If I do stick with the 440's is it even worth putting the walbro in at this stage?

Just wanted to make sure I had the right fuel pump to cope with the anti lag?

Thanks for looking

Hi,

I can only offer 2nd hand advice cos im in the same situation.

Ive been told before a remap put the fuel pump in. its relativly cheap and will give the mapper more fuel to playwith/be safe with. Even if running std injectors etc.

Hopefully someone can give a definitive answer.

The pink sti injectors are from a newage car and are top feed, where as your car has side feed injectors so they will not fit.

I would do the fuel pump out of saftey and in regards to the injectors you will probably max them before the turbo.

Dont cut corners and do the job properly.
That means: pump, injectors (side feed 550's will be fine) and a decent fuel pressure regulator.

Don't use a standard reg with an uprated fuel pump as they are prone to failing (it happened to me and cost me an engine). The uprated pump overpowered the OEM Reg.

It's more expensive but its the best way of doing it and ensuring you dont have any areas of weakness

Isn't Anti Lag on a VF series turbo a bad idea, or are the VF34's stronger?

I dont want to cut corners and would prefer to do it right.

Have you got any tips on where to pick up a set of side feed 550's? As well as the recommended fuel pressure reg?

I was told as long as its a roller barring turbo, it'd survive better against the abuse of anti lag

Go for a fuel lab pressure reg as it can do 2 or 3 ports, just blank one off it you want to use 2 ports

For the price of them lately I'd buy a FMIC.

Hybrid are exceptionally good value for money.

I would go for a parallel setup more for safety than anything, as it stops the 3rd cylinder running lean due to getting fuel last and being closest to the turbo.

Am I right in thinking that these recommendations that you guys have kindly given me are in order to do it right if I'm running the anti lag all the time?

I wont be using it all the time, just short bursts, like a few mins at a time... under those circumstances would it be necessary to do more than the fuel pump at this stage?

Down the road if I decide I'd like to use it more often then definately go for the mods you've recommended!
