Bosch 044 fuel pump

I've just fitted one. Easiest way to do it is to install a swirl pot too. You have a Walbro 255 as an in tank lift pump that feeds a swirl pot. The swirl pot then feeds a Bosch 044 which, in turn, feeds the rails.
Wiring up is a doddle. Run a 35amp cable from the battery to a relay. Then wire up the relay taking a switched live from the existing fuel pump wiring under the seat.

No, the 044 is designed to be an external pump. They do similar pumps designed for intank although the 044 can be used in tank as well but its pickup is not ideal.

It can be done but there are size and location issues. I think you have to modify the pump assembly to be able to fit the 044. On top of that you have wiring issues as the 044 draws a fair bit of current and i think the existing wiring isn't man enough for the job.
You'll still have fuel surge on long right handers and less that 1/4 tank though.
I went for the proper fit and forget solution.

The 044 does fit in tank without any major issues but its not a straight forward install, you could do it like my install, in this configuration I can 1/4 mile it with the fuel light on.

Hello Bob, am looking at a simular set-up to what you have made-up, did you run -8 fittings on the inlet (I can't tell if they are bigger than the -6's on the outlet or not). How is the filter held by the fitting (do you have a part number for the filter).
Cheers.
Cheers.
