Default COOLANT TANK HELP

Hi all

My car doesnt seem to have an Expansion tank?

I'd like one to be refitted so my questions are:

Can I please have some bug eye engine bay pics specifically of the expansion tank area?

Does anyone know the part number for it?

Does it mount with 2 screw in the rad housing?

Many thanks, Yodi

Presumably it was removed as the FMIC pipe was in the way?
So what is the black pipe with small jubilee clip connected to?

In the piccie I posted, the overflow/suck-back pipe going into the expansion tank looks like it is still on your car. If you follow that, where does it end up?

Nope - that's the filling reservoir. Excess coolant flows into the expansion tank that Yodi is missing.

Talking

My bad butty and OP - I should learn to read lol.

Yes, I was talking about header/filling tank - not expansion tank.

Yes of course, the FMIC return pipe has caused the expansion bottle by the battrey to be 'junked'.

So should I refit one? The pipe that would have usually gone into it now goes to ground

Yes you do.

If the coolant gets too hot, the excess pressure causes the pressure cap to open, venting expanded coolant out via the header tank's narrow vent pipe and into the expansion bottle. When the temp lowers again, then the partial vacuum created in the system causes that displaced coolant to get drawn back up into the header tank, thus restoring the status quo.

At the moment, if the pressure cap opens to vent expanded coolant, you'll be continually losing it to ground...
