Default psi3 secs help

Have fitted my pre 01 monitor and have noticed that my peak boost reading (bp) was 1.27 bar but was mapped for 1.3 peak. The knock correction reading (kc) stayed on 0.0 and stayed like that is that normal? Is the car supposed to meet its peak boost target all the time or is there a bit more to it? temps etc.

Thanks in advance.

One more question, what reading does a healthy maf sensor show.

cheers

Was it secondhand? The peak boost might be on there from someone else.
Not sure where the ECU gets the boost information from, but I'd imagine it to be the most accurate. Most gauges take it from the inlet manifold pressure, so a difference is to be expected.
Its good that the Knock correction is at 0.0, as it means your ecu hasn't had to correct any knock, so looking good.

Boost levels will change dependent on temp, weather conditions and what gear your using. 1.27 is ok if its mapped for a peak of 1.3.

Maf varies dependand how much air the engine is pulling in. Mine idles at around 4-5 g/s and gets to nearly 300 on full load

Do you not get any positive k/c when giving it some?

No, brought it new and had reset the peak values.
No, dont get any positive k/c at all.
Is this a good thing though, i would of thought i would see some positive correction.

well i see positive on mine when giving it some. up to about 8 degrees which i was led to believe is normal. Maybe try doing an ecu reset with the psi3 then see what happens as it re-learns

Very unusual not to see some +k/c I assume it's not re-mapped? The amount of +k/c will depend on the base ignition map.
My STi consumes 3.4/3.5 g/s at idle and you should be seeing ign. timing of 11-12deg

Possible discrepancy between ECU boost reading and actual boost pressure

I've got one in my MY99 - don't think the monitor picks up the knock correction and its a hangover from the software for new age cars. IIRC its likewise with Lambda and MAF readings.

Mine also maxes out at 1.27 bar, although as far as I know its a standard STi ECU.

Done a reset kc is still showing 0.0. Got no data available for intake temp, mass air flow and lambda/fuel. Hopefully the boost pressure goes above 1.27 otherwise it doesn't even make the monitor an expensive boost gauge. Does this apply with 98/00 classics. I have a my00.

cheers

You wont either without additional sensors i'm afraid, oil pressure gives a misleading reading that appears at first as oil pressure should but then you realise the values are way off.

It's a good monitor for some of the standard items but you need additional sensors for the majority of the features which end up costing the same as individual gauges when totalled up, although its much smarter than a load of gauges stuck all over the dash. From memory the default alarms are programmed for the UK settings for boost as well, and not the imports which run slightly higher.

How many times have you had to reset the alarm values

Didn't realise the device can't display AFR or MAF on the classic. Keeping an eye on those two is desirable on the late classics as the MAF sensor was known to be a possible weak point?

This was one of the reasons for buying one. To be honest I'm not overly happy about this, i have just paid £230 for it and had to chop up my dash to fit it. I may as well turn it upside down and use it as a ashtray

Was it this one:

Psi3 - ECU Data Monitors. - Subaru Pre '01 Pod Mount LCD Data Monitor

It does say it measures knock correction, if it doesn't have words, or ask for a refund. Do you know what version software you have, as some features are only available on certain versions of the software.
It might be handwritten on the big square chip on the back of the unit, or I think it shows in the start up.
