Default Mass air flow meter chip ?

hi guys, i think my maf sensor is on its way out, i have seen this chip on ebay, will it do the job or is it another "wonder mod"

AIR FLOW METER CHIPPED SUBARU IMPREZA INC.WRX, STI & P1 on eBay, also, Volkswagen, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 30-Apr-08 19:04:06 BST)

Subaru isn't mentioned in the advert.

I hate it when people say this as this is just ,imo, a load of bollocks

thank you mate, do you know anybody with a spare maf knocking around. my car is quite lumpy now and the coil pack look fine.

it's 'bull'
it will be a resistor (probably less the 0.01p) in a box that connects to the MAF signal wire.
It is designed (if thats the right word) to fool the ECU and make the car run leaner.

Very cheap, very dangerous.

Speak to Triton at Hurn Airport as they normally keep a new one to sort problems like this.
When i had a bad idle problem they lent 1 to me and it sorted it out.

Have you tried cleaning the Maf?

alegedly brake or carb cleaner works (never done it myself tbh) sprayed onto the sensor BUT don't put the maf back straight away, let the cleaner evaporate so the sensor is dry.

This may only be a temporary measure though.
