Default Engine not turning over

I have a p1

i was doing fairly high revs and the car suddenly lost power,
The aa man said the hoses were all on and the boster was giving power to the battery, but the engine would not turn over?

any suggestions on what the problem might be?

if it turns over by hand then that is a positive sign. If it doesnt turn over by hand then there is a good chance something internally is damaged.

OUCH.

Did the high revs happen on a "good run" on a motorway by any chance?

Does the car still have oil in it?
Take the dipstick out and see if has a glittery look or even metal shavings.
Can you hear the fuel pump whine for a second or two when turning the ignition?

It does crank manualy, i put it in 5th gear and i can push the car it forward and back

yes it was on a good run the oil is low but it was about 1/2 way on the marks 2 weeks ago but sayin that it gets a good enough run almost every day but usually only for a minute or 2 at a time, where as this time it was a good few minutes,
i didnt notice glittery look or metal shavings on the dip stick
i didnt listen for the fuel pump
the battery

So either there is no ignition, no fuel flowing or no compression.
If you haven't got the facilities to test for any of these then get the car to a garage.

It sounds like the starter is locking.

If you can’t rotate the crank by hand (22mm socket and power bar) you need to get this one to the garage. Its possible cam belt, rod failure etc given the circumstances. Moving the car whilst in 5th is not really a good indication.
