A standard TD05H-16G can run at up to 1.8 bar IIRC from looking at a compressor map a few months ago, although it's hideously inefficient at this level of boost. Again, from the compressor map plotted against the characteristics of an Impreza 2.0 lump, it's basically loving it at 1.0-1.2 bar, although of course it can be pushed further. Mine has just been mapped at 1.45 bar and it's strong all the way through from 3000-7000 rpm, hits 1 bar at 3100.

yes i have changed the turbo from a tdo4 to a tdo5 im just wondering what boost it is safe to run at with a stock engine its currently running 1.1 and a bit bar.is it safe to run it at nearly 1.2 bar on a stock engine or?

also what do u guys think will be the rough power i should be expecting out of her mods are:

arc super induction box
colder grade plugs(7s not 6s)
twin decat pipe(one pipe for wastegate side one for exhaust, heat wrapped)
hks exhuast system
tdo5
esl chip running 1.15 bar (roughly)
wahlbro 355 fuel pump

cheers for all ur help

1.3 bar is about the limit for reliability on standard internals, at this boost pressure with a decat exhaust and fmic you would be looking at 325bhp.

This is pretty much what I have heard also, Andy Stevens from ESL would be worth speaking to, I think he has a 1993 WRX and has been running 1.4 bar with a FMIC and 440cc injectors. The gearbox on these early cars can be a problem at this level. I think 1.4bar should give somewhere between 320-340bhp depending on supporting mods.

Wow - thats some serious boost on standard internals/box. What intercooler and injectors are you running with that?

Id say about that, 325bhp in a classic should feel pretty manic.

Intercooler is an HKS front mount and 550 injectors. The map I have is fairly conservative aswell to make the poor box last a bit longer. It should just about put out 350 if I didnt care about the box.

To put it into perspective a bit, a heavweight blobeye would need 390-400 bhp to attain the same power to weight ratio.

I'm running 1.23 bar and making 310 brake on 97 ron, I was running 1.4 bar with 550's before I swopped from a power fc to and Simtek ecu. I could run more boost but the early box's have a weak woodruff key on 5th gear...as I found out.
