Default engine check light wont turn off.

Hi guys.i have been having problems with boost pressure and was advised to reset the ecu.
i followed the procedure today drove my car till the light flashed then switched it off and disconnected the connectors.but now every time i start the car the engine check light just continuously flashes and i cant stop it.
i have disconnected the battery and it makes no difference.i also did the ecu reset again but still the same problem.the annoying thing is it didnt flash before i just only had 0.6 bar of boost.now i have got 0.5 bar and an engine check light flashing.
PLEASE HELP !!

Have you read the error codes (www.scoobypedia.co.uk tells you how).

maybe the Check Engine light actually means something ... have you considered that and tried checking the engine or getting someone else to?

but it wasnt flashing before the reset and there doesnt seem to be a definitive code.it just flashes constantly with the same period of time between each flash.i thought this meant no faults.

no i disconnected them.but the engine check light still flashes. The plot has also thickened. The reason i reset it was because i only had 0.5 bar of boost.I just drove the car and for the first 15 minutes i had 0.9 bar of boost for the first time.however it was short lived and now i have 0.5 bar again. Also i stopped for a while and when i got back in i had 0.9 bar of boost again for 5 minutes when it went back to 0.5.

I've seen a post similar to this recently in general tech - someone else was having full boost, then reduced boost until a restart. have a look around, it was within the last week or so, im not sure if it got resolved.

yeah i have viewed a post on the same boost problem and there seems to be a few different solutions but the problem i have is not being able to get the light to stop flashing as well as the boost problem.i have disconnected the battery tonight so i will connect in the morning to see if it has gone off.i just bought a dawes device so i will try to sort the boost problem out.

Main Heading Goes Here

This does say
"In Diagnostic Mode – No Fault is indicated by the Check Engine Light continuously & evenly flashing on/off (this is also used to indicate the successful completion of an ECU Reset)."

Are you sure it is still not in diagnostic mode as described on that page. On a newage restarting engine several times causes ecu to reset any logged codes which are no longer present, not sure about a classic tho.

If your boost is being lowered by the ecu it thinks that its getting a duff reading from somewhere so trying to correct the boost may not be wise until you have confirmed that the AFR readings are ok.

well today i got the car hot and found that one of the radiator hoses had steam coming from the borrom of it.(the top hose on the left as you stand in front of the engine)when i checked the clamp it was loose so i replaced it with a jubilee clip and have had 0.9 bar of boost all day.engine check light still flashes though.all connectors are disconnected.

i have tried running the ecu reset a few times and each time i disconnect the reset and diag connectors the engine check light will not go out.
one thing i realised last time is that there was a flashing sequence while driving the car with these connectors together.if this is a fault code and i have not fixed the fault would the check light flash until the fault is cured.if so could i film the sequence and show you guys to see what the problem is because i do not really understand the sequences of flashes??

Each long flash stands for a ten and each short flash is a unit. So eg. 3 long flashed and 3 short flashes would be 33. See what they do and fix the problem....
