conrods loose?

Default conrods loose?

i have just put my new H-beam conrods and new shells on my crank and i have noticed they are loose, if i hold the end where the piston goes on and move it up and down they are all slightly wobbley, is that how they are ment to be, cheers phil.

shouldn't be, sounds like some issue somewhere.............have they been torqued correctly??

yes, all torqued up, they have had a little more if anything, could the crank have been ground off a little before i got it, that would make them loose.

they should have no play to the human hand up and down , ground maybe yes where did you get bearings from question them on size maybe

Have you got the correct shells for the crank, has the crank had a regrind?

i got them off a bloke called howard on here but if the crank has been ground he wouldnt have known, ill take the crank in to get it gaged up an get the right sized bearings, it has to be the crank being ground and i cant tell, cheers phil.

give api a ring and ask for std sizes on crank bearings etc very helpful i found .may even supply you with bearings you need . imprezas dont take too well to regrinds was mentioned few times on here

it may be worth getting another crank then, if this has been reground and they dont like having it done, that would explain why the bearings were slightly worn on the crank when i stripped it, ill get a price on a crank, got any ideas.

You need to measure the big end journals with a micrometer to see if its a standard( 52mm big end )crank and then Plastigauge the big ends to check the oil clearance.
