Default 2 Questions:Car now feels slow after fix+oil usage

I've just cured a surging problem with my MY00 PPP'd classic. Following advice from here I cleaned out the boost control solenoid. On the test drive the car is no longer surging and is smooth on boost. Funny thing is it doesn't feel as quick anymore. When it surged back and forth with the solenoid fault it felt quick when actually on boost. Is it all in my head?

Could the dirty boost solenoid cause a slight over boost?(not enough for fuel cut) I don't know what the boost pressure is as I don't have a gauge.

Secondly, should these cars use any oil? Could a blocked breather push oil into the boost solenoid?

4 questions actually, thanks for any help.
