Default Hesitation.

Developed a hesitation. If I floor my 93 WRX in first and second it hesitates at around 4000rpm and then happily pulls on through. At first I thought it was fuel cut as I have a Dawes fitted so I reduced the boost by half a turn and now feels like a hesitation. A few mods done:

ESL Chip
High flow Panel Filter
Dawes set at no more than 1.1bar (fitted to bypass a suspected BCS problem)
Full decat.

No codes are after an ECU check.

What else could it be??

After searching, Plugs, Coils and MAF has be mentioned quite a few times. Would a failure in any of these cause this sympton.

Had a similar problem a few weeks ago and became convinced it was the MAF - like you had no ecu code but think I was doing something wrong

Mentioned it at service and they cleaned the solenoid pipes? (I think thats what he said) - they reported improvement but still not right so asked them to try changing the MAF

Problem solved

A fuel cut and hesitation are two very different things. If you saturate your MAP sensor (around 1.2bar) it will cut. If its hesitating I would gap the plugs a little tighter or replace them with grade 7's gapped to 0.6mm. Check the coilpacks under the boots for cracks and replace as necessary.

If that solves it and you feel like you havent spent enough, you have my paypal details.

Thanks guys. I think I'll try new plugs first as has Andy mentioned. They have not been changed or inspected for a good while so what better place to start. PFR6G or PFR7G right?

The thought of putting hundreds of pounds in your Paypal is temping but on this occasion I must decline your kind offer.

PFR7B would be my preference, though 6Bs will do.
