Neil,

The first green light on dimly simply means the unit is on.

A single flashing green denotes nothing more than background noise and is nothing to worry about. You may also notice that several of the lights flash as you start the car up; again, nothing to worry about.

Well I have a 1993 WRX lightly tuned with FMIC, bigger injectors and boost set to 1.1bar. Get first green on quite a lot over 80mph, occasionally see an orange when booting it at 80+ mph and changing gear - but I'm pretty sure this is just the noise assiciated with gearbox/general car noise at 80mph which is quite high.

I dont think I have ever seen an orange during driving at less than 60mph even when booting it, though have seen second green.

Orange at low speeds would give me cause for concern.

To be honest though, I think when you get det it tends not to be something you can say "ohh orange, thats close better ease off" rather than "bugger it just knocked and I saw the red light flash when it happened". If your seeing reds and hearing/feeling knock then get the car seen to or lower the boost.

If you see orange regularly, that's a warning that the chances are something isn't quite right and you should make a note of the conditions under which you get the orange lights, and speak to your mapper. If you see activity, backing off is always a wise precaution.

If you see red, that's det: you MUST back off immediately and get in touch with your mapper straight away.

Clear enough?
