Default Launching and the Diff...

When launching from a standing position, is it normal for the diff to vibrate/judder? it's very noticeable...

have had a look back on various posts, but couldn't find an answer.

I'm not one to launch my car, hense the question.

Thanks,

Chris.

p.s. car is a MY03 JDM STI - but DCCD is 99% of the time set to auto.

i guess it could be the clutch, but i am not experiencing any slip etc etc which would normally suggest a failing clutch - saying that, during launch i do understand its at its maximum load once released.... could be that. Would it cause the car to shake though?

yeh... i mean this is when it is fully warmed up, take it up to just under 4k, drop the clutch, and it shakes, i have had clutch judder before, and its a lot more jolty than that.

strange as it may sound, giving it a full blown launch may help, as this deglazes the face of the clutch, removing hot spots etc.

Had clutch judder on my 03 STI, gave it a full on launch as per SIDC FAQ and its been fine since. suspect you will only get away with this a couple of times though.
