1995 sti RA
Hi,
I would be very grateful if anybody could help me with this, i have recently bought what i was told by the seller was a 1995 WRX STi RA, is there any way to determine what exactly my car is and what ECU it is meant to have fitted, the information from the VIN plate is:
Applied Model: GC8A47D
Trim Code: 320
Engine Type: EJ20GDW1HJ
Transmission Type: TY752VB3BA
would be grateful for any help and info.

You can check model codes here:

The code you have above is a 1993 WRX type RA (the gearbox code ties in as well), not an 1995 WRX STi type RA.

The model code for a MY 95 STI RA is GC8C47D - same as a normal WRX RA of that year, but the STI RA has DCCD, which is easily noticable by having a diff control thumbwheel next to the handbrake.
