Default Going for a service...

Prosport in Stockport on the 24th. Was telling them I wanted to have Green panel filter fitted as part of the service, and they told me of an SCI (?) filter they use that costs just short of £100. Did I hear him right - or did he say STI?

Anyways, £100 seems a lot for a panel filter unless it really does have benefits. Service should come to about £90 as well.

Ta,

Andy

I would stick with a std panel filter, unless you have a MY03 Spec C in which case your car will miraculously gain 50ftlb of torque with an STI panel filter...

The STi panel filter does not cost anywhere near £100! Mine was just over 30 quid via a group buy from Hong Kong a couple of years ago. As said, fit one yourself, they'll charge you for fitting something that will take you 10 minutes!

Thx guys, I'll do that

Will leave them to do the other bits like plugs etc. Saying that, how difficult are the plugs to get to? I hear not the easiest

It would be nice to be able to get to the stage where I can do most parts of the service myself.

Is there any such thing as a service manual for Impreza's?

For the record, a reputable Scooby tuner recommends the Green panel filter - it gives good gains without the expense of a full induction kit. Plus you don't have to worry about underbonnet temps, cold air feeds, etc... and, more importantly, the possible knackering of the Air Flow Monitor wire that can occur when fitting an induction kit! Good choice, methinks....
