If you're not capable of doing DIY as Kas suggested, there must be a respectable Subaru Specialists within an hours drive or so? They will probably be far cheaper and still just as good, if not better, than having a dealer stamp in your book.

I'm in the same boat next month as my 06 Blob STI is due its 6 year service. Does seem to be the most expensive one by some margin. £350 does sound good. I've been looking on Scoobclinic and RCM website and both charge around the £520 mark. Glad next year returns to an affordable level!!

£6oo was just ridiculous unless it was including a timing belt change as well.

On a hawkeye 2.0rx wagon it's a timing belt service according to our system as its 5 years. It was the earlier blob eyes that were 50k belt intervals

Is that on a Hawkeye as there is no mention of it in the service book and when you get a break down on this service from dealers and other Surburu specialists there is no mention of it - Just interested in finding out

If you ring a run of the mill subaru dealership , it will say 600 quid for that service and it includes rockergaskets , Its on there superservice menu pricing which is set up for there labour rate also , so they can vary in price .. i can print one off if you want to see it , so its quite easy for another garage to underquote a dealer because of the servive involved ..

If it came onto us , we would let you know if they were leaking or not and then advise you to have them changed or not , so your price would alter with that ...

Should have worded my post better.

60,000 on an RX doesn't have rocker gaskets unlike the turbo variants

the restructured price I sorted for Gary is way under that £600 now so alls good

Me thinks that you've lost this one! Trust in the dealer network has been dealt another blow. If Gary hadn't questioned the price he'd have been ripped off well and truly..............

Well Unfortunately mate I don't deal with the pricing structure on a day to day basis so In my defense I'm limited to what I can do to help folk out.

Yes I'm a Scooby fan & an owner like most on here but as a day job I'm actually a Subaru Technician, not a service advisor I'm just like everyone else on here I wouldn't want to pay over the odds for anything if I thought I could get it done cheaper some were else. I help were I can mate

I quite agree the price is over the top, But as already stated the guy who deals with the service enquiry's just goes on what he see's on the screen AKA the super service menu, If I know anyone on here wants a service or a repairs then I can butt in and override the pricing structure to that competitive of these backstreet enterprises.

Isn't that because all the 2.5 engines have been rebuilt before 50,000
