Do i need to re-map
I am looking to change the centre section of exuast to a straight thro type, might change the backbox also if i can find one i like.
Will i need to re-map for such a simple mod, only looking to unlock the burble, dont sound right with a standard system!!
Just for the cost of a re-map i think id be wanting to do alot more mods first

The car type and MY is important when giving advice on these issues mate.
If it's a UK, non STi car, the mods you suggest won't require a remap.
Would also suggest you do the downpipe before considering a remap for the best gains.

Yes, for a start you can't remap a pre 99 car with Ecutek, you'd need to go for an aftermarket ECU like Apexi Power FC
The chages you suggest are minor and I think the WRX of that age doesn't have a cat in the centre pipe anyway (stand to be corrected). I also seem to recall that the ECUs of cars of this age don't run a map as aggressive as later in cars (late JDMS don't like UK fuel even when std, this is excerabated with they're modified), so you should be ok in that respect too.
My advice would be to speak to a tuner like Bob Rawle or Andy F. They'll tell you without trying to flog you a map if you don't need it!

removing just the centre cat wont be a problem, just make sure ecu is reste when you have it changed

the centre section on yours isnt a cat, there is only one and thats in the downpipe, it is merely a silencer (although it does look cat like). Scoobyclinic do a nice centre section straight through stainless for not much money and if you team this up with a decent backbox (scoobyclinic do these as well) and you will have a nice sounding motor. You will not in my opinion need a remap with these mod. I used to run my93 saloon with full decat (in downpipe) and an induction kit and didnt light anything other than green on the knocklink.

No need to reset the ecu on that year of car. You won't need a remap either. The only problem I can think of that may occur is overboost, leading to fuel cut.
But to be honest, this only normally happens when you decat the downpipe.
Basically, go for it, you'll be fine!
