Default help on insatalling a electrical oil pressure gauge

can any1 help plz???????i have bought a electric oil pressure gauge frm ebay the make is autogauge it looks all good but after wiring the gauge up by following the instructions and removing the old oil pressure switch from under the autonator the new sender in place(its a bit 2 big)but made it fit.on the sender there are 2 terminals 1 with G..and1 with WK...Wot r these 4? as i ran awire from the gauge to the terminal with g on it but the gauge is not droppin wen car is turned on or left runing 4 30 mins...wot have i done wrong can any1 inlighten me??????

Well if there's only two wires, have you tried just switching them round?

possibly ""G"" for ground???

g is for guage and wk is warning light

thanks but the problem is that wen the wire frm the gauge is on terminal g and the oil light wire is on the wk terminal the oil warning light is on all the time.....i checked oil levels and there r all ok.....the gauge reads just bellow 4bar and stays there even wen drivein.....something not rite any idears??????

Try putting the wires back to the way you had them to start with. Then just get a piece of wire (any will do), and connect it to a ground point (body bolt or something), then touch the housing of the actual sender unit and get someone to look at the gauge to see what happens. They are just like a mini multi meter really and so need a reference point (the ground). Maybe you have already tried this but in case you haven't, there it is. Hope this helps.

as chad says, the sender unit needs to be earthed, as the gauge uses ( resitance to earth ) as its calculation to give reading

thanks guys....it seems to be ok now..but do u know wot the gauge shoud read on idle wen warm? in bar please????

also woud the autonator make the sender read wrong as the autonator is sitting on top of the sender?i have wrapped the sender in insulating tape but the gauge is reading just over 3 bar wen idelin and wen driving....im so confused sorry to be a pain people.........
