Default queastion about turbos and boost

i have a 95 sti when im going along the motorway at about 90 mph with 4000 rpm my turbo gauge says o but then when you put your foot down it shoots up to just over 1 bar now what i want to know is at that speed i would of thought the turbo would be creating pressusre and working but according to the gauge it isnt so why isnt the gases turning the turbo and creating pressure and how can the gasses get past the turbo ?

ps the car is running fine is just a queastion thats been buggin me thanks

'how are the gasses getting past the turbo' in the same way they do when you are sitting at idle!

im not sure what turbo you have on that year car, but when does it normally start to make boost?

You wont see any boost pressure if youre throttle is shut will you.

So no youre not on boost, when the throttle opens the boost will fill the intake manifold and thats where your boost gauge reads from.
