Question My turbo up pipe shields are rattling, should I be worried?

Just brought the car back from having it serviced this morning, during which time I was informed of the above.

Subaru have quoted £426 to have the problem rectified.

What'll happen if I don't get it repaired.

Cheers.

never used either but extream seem to have a good rep on here. might be worth paying visit and having a chat, might find they can sort it cheaper than subaru anyway so save yourself some money for some mods lol

Not exactly the same, but last year after a service I got told my heat shield (I think they meant the exhaust heat shield) is badly corroded and will need replacing sometime. I did nothing with it, took it to the same place again this year for the service and they have put on some metal ties for me. So maybe you could try some metal tie clips on your up-pipe shield? Nice cheap fix, or it will depend on how badly they are gone...

One of my heatshield bits is also rattling around in the area of my downpipe as well - damm it's annoying. I've got a 98 Classic Saloon.

Been driving around like it ever since i picked it up a couple of months ago with no apparent side effects.

The real annoying bit is at low revs in second gear it just seems to make a right rattly noise which is SO unbecoming a scooby imho

Once i get my new sports cat downpipe all that old tat will be removed and i'll wrap it in that bandage type heat insulation material you can buy - should then never be a problem again
