Default Boost solenoid wiring

Just bought a used boost solenoid to replace my noisy 3 port one on UK MY96turbo wagon. Looks like the electrical connection had been changed on one I bought as it is a small 2 wire "T" connector whereas from what I can see of mine (not took it off yet) the connection is like a 20mm O.D. black cylinder with two wires running in to it. The part numbers on the two solenoids are the same but definately different wiring connector.
Anyone know what the big connector on mine is and if it's OK to cut it out and wire the replacement solenoid in to the loom, bypassing the black connector.
TIA

Default

Usually a noisy (ticking) solenoid is a sign of a good working one.
Sorry cannot help you on the wiring
