Default VF34 on 2.5

Has any one fitted a VF34 to a 2.5 engine conversion in a classic and what sort of bhp and torque did you achieve.

If I go ahead with 2.5 I will be fitting STi3 heads, FMIC, 540 injectors, headers, K&N, sports cat, fuel reg, walbro, and Hydra ecu ?

It will spool very quick and be very drivable with good pick-up. With the 540's I expect the injectors will max out before the turbo.

Would a VF34 be to small for a 2.5ltr. Have you looked at something like a TD05 18g / 20g.

I already have the vf34, with the rebuild and remap no cash for bigger turbo so have to make do for now.

Vf34 would be fine. A friend had the smaller VF28 initially and it drove really well. I think this gave 300BHP+ on just 0.9bar of boost. We did wind it up to 1.2bar but he wanted more so swapped for a TD05-20G.

I would think the VF34 would be good for 350+ on a 2.5 as they can easily give 320-330BHP on a 2.0 litre Classic.

personal experience is that the same size turbo on a 2.5 gives slightly less outright power than equivalent 2.0 car, however, torque and response are in a different league altogether..................

makes for a very impressive car (considering the VF34 turbo is the limit for in this conversion), and will happily blow away far more powerful 2.0 cars on the road with its torque output - only minor downside is that you will run out of revs at around 5-5.5K due to airflow or lack of it!!

injectors will happily outflow the turbo in this spec...........

Agree with Stockcar

running a VF35 on a 2.5 with standard STi 5 heads and injectors

330bhp@5200rpm 1.1bar
401lb/ft torgue @ 3000rpm 1.4bar

turbo cant flow enough air after 5.5K

the other problem is inlet temp. The smaller turbo is working too hard and temps rise and sap power.

cheers

The TD05 16g on a 2.5 will be the same as Alyn says but slightly lower spool.

Good driveability though, very diesel like in pick up terms.

Thank you all for your views on VF34 to 2.5, but with the extra cost of a bigger turbo and remap I'm having a new STi8 short block.

Thanks again
