911 Carrera 4 - Should he have beaten me?
Was on my way out for tea tonight and had some fun shall we say with a 911 Carrera 4.
To be honest I thought he would've really embarressed me, but he didnt. I seemed to stick with him on accelleration and on the corners. He did look rather shocked to see me still still behind him.
The question is, was he really trying, was he just cr@p at driving or are these two cars simlar in performance?
My bugeye wrx is running about 240bhp.

I'm lucky enough to have an early 911 with 2 wheel drive and 230 bhp. It weighs 1000Kg. That car will stick with a decent WRX/UK turbo.
The C4 is lardy in comparison, 4x4 heavy and all that, but incredibly flexible and easy to drive hard, few vices etc.It is the last bit which makes a 911 what it is.
I should think he was pressing on with it, as 911 drivers think they are gods in icons (remember I own one!) and can deal with anything.
Just shows how good the Impreza is.
Just a thought:
I hill climbed my 911 for 10 years and switched to an Sti v3 to go faster. I did, but for the same hill climb venue the 911 would run it in 61 secsonds, the stock Sti was SLOWER!(62 secs but 1250 Kg and 280 bhp)
With 407 bhp the Sti now does the same hill in 59.6 seconds.

I re-call going to a Porsche Dealership a couple of years back. Was interested in the C4s. I asked the salesman to be honest as I wanted something quicker than mine. He looked over at my car and said "to be honest...the C4s would struggle to keep up..." he then walks me over to the 911 Turbo....
...when he knew he had my interest he went on to demonstrate how much room was in the back while I squashed him in the back sliding the seat back and forth
Always had a soft spot for 911s (not meaning Graham ) Would love to own a 993 Turbo at some point....ideally one touched by RUF.

It was a 993 C4. My dad has the same car, always thought it felt a bit quicker than mine although he dissagrees.
Lovely car though, I must admit I would trade the scoob for one (a turbo though! ) if i could afford it!

Dead right Jason!
The 993 is a killer engine and package, I've driven one for about 30 mins when they were launched through the Porsche Club's links with the Dealers.
I would sell the Sti for one for sure, but couldn't bare to sell my old 1973 coupe.
Graham.
