MY98 v MY99
Ive found a car in a scrapyard that is burnt out in the engine bay, I have no means of identifying the MY of this car, Im hoping its a MY99, how can I be sure its an MY99 as opposed MY98?
Please bear in mind its gutted under the bonnet! but the interior is ok, anything inside the car that will help?

ways that i can think of are taller rear spoiler, front bumper has orange 'wedges' under the bumber indicators, bumper itself is different shape. front seats have grey material on the side bolster as opposed to on the shoulder 'wings'. my99 has 4-pot front brakes.
obviously all of these parts could be fitted to any age model and imports may be different aswell, but it may give you a start.
have a look in the members pics section, now you know what to look for, the differences will be easy to spot in pics (and hopefully in the flesh)
alternatively, post a pic up of the car in question and see if anyone can tell you from that.

if you look at the "post one pic of your car etc" thread in the members gallery,
post 7 is a 99 front bumper (forget the splitter, that's a P1 add on) black wedges under the indicator is usually orange. 98 bumper has 3 'slats' in it, indicator, blank bit, open vent (if i recall). in the mouth of the bumper in the pic there is 1 thick vane in the middle, 98 has about 5ish thinner vanes. grille sticks out further on the 99. (see the difference between this bumper and the one in post 48, also shows flatter grille and vanes)
post 11 has the 99 spoiler.
i take it the number plates are off?

Bumper and 4-pots are the the obvious ones for UK cars. Grill sticks out further on a UK 99 too. All this can go to pot if it's and import however.
Dash/steering wheel etcwere the same UK MY98/99 AFAIK - steering wheel had added 'silver' in 2000.
Why are you hoping it's a MY99? What bits are you after?

The seat belts all have lables on them that have a date of manufacture on them. This is the same irrelevent of being uk or jdm. You will find the lables at the bottom of the belt just before the bolting point. You wont need to remove anything to see them
