Unhappy SECS Help!

Hey folks,

I'm buying a LCD SECS 1004 unit (that has supposedly been removed from a new age sti) off a friend of a friend and know very little about these things.

From what I can tell they normally come with a cage that screws into the postion where the clock pod normally sits then a new pod fits over the top. Now the one I might be buying (i've only seen pics of it) seems to have the SECS unit already attached to a pod with no cage. Is this for a different model Scooby and should it come with this cage or are there different types? My car is a my02 wrx by the way. The SECS unit is supposedly off a new age STi.

Thanks in advance

Iain

If it's been taken from a new age STi and is already in a dash top pod, then it will fit where your clock tray is no probs. The SECS will already be attached to the pod, so all you need to do is remove this and the clock tray and fit the new pod in place.

I think you mean this thread

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=322362?

I'd never seen this. I thought it was already mounted in the pod. Doh.

Yip thats the one. Am really stumped. I have the part number (its a subaru part) for the pod in question and found out today it is for the gauge set that subaru do. Also found out that the metal clips that hold the pod on are missing and will need to source them too. Might just not bother and go buy a new one!

When I bought my SECS1004 from xtremescoobies, I am sure it came allready fixed to the pod...As Nathan says...

Have you any pics?..as I fitted mine but my memory is failing me...

The metal fixing clips are just standard Subaru clips..I am sure somewhere like Halfords would stock a similar item.

This is the gauge pod It comes with ...
the four clips which attach to the plastic of the dash,
four screws for the clips,
the cage you refer to, and
the two clips which attach the plastic pod to the cage.
