Default Engine warning light - help thankyou

Have a MY02 and the engine light flashed about 4 times then went off

Reason??

was very low on fuel at the time (got caught out between Optimax stations )

i was excellerating HARD at the time to join duel carriageway, could fuel starvation cause this????

BTW im not too technical so be gentle with me

flashing ecu light is a warning that the cat is in danger of being damaged

what mods you got

check your lamda and 02 sensors mate,

o2 sensor is the one for air coming in through filter???

mods i have

Forge VTA dv
Firestorm
and (i suspect this is prob the one) ITG panel filter (oil based filter)

can the sensor be cleaned?? and if so how

BTW no light come up since and i am avoiding hard driving

the lambda *is* the O2 sensor ( in the downpipe )

I think scrappy meant the MAF ( which is in the intake after the horribly gooey nasty filter you have fitted )

You could try very gently cleaning it, but if it's contaminated, it's likely to be shot ...

Got a new standard filter to go in, so MAF sensor contamination will cause engine light to come on??? and affect power/smooth running also???

what to clean with? i have some isoproponol(sp) alcohol will that do it?

treat maf sensor as a consumable item and if in doubt, get it replaced.
cant speak for any other model except 99/00 but theyre cheap enough and you dont want one to pop on you.
