Engine warning light - help thankyou

Have a MY02 and the engine light flashed about 4 times then went off

Reason??

was very low on fuel at the time (got caught out between Optimax stations )

i was excellerating HARD at the time to join duel carriageway, could fuel starvation cause this????

BTW im not too technical so be gentle with me ;)

the lambda *is* the O2 sensor ( in the downpipe )

I think scrappy meant the MAF ( which is in the intake after the horribly gooey nasty filter you have fitted )

You could try very gently cleaning it, but if it's contaminated, it's likely to be shot ...

Steve

Got a new standard filter to go in, so MAF sensor contamination will cause engine light to come on??? and affect power/smooth running also???

what to clean with? i have some isoproponol(sp) alcohol will that do it?

questions questions ;)

treat maf sensor as a consumable item and if in doubt, get it replaced.
cant speak for any other model except 99/00 but theyre cheap enough and you dont want one to pop on you.
