Default Please Help...!!!

Hi,

I have a 93WRX Import that seems to be playing up a little lately...

When i first start off in the mornings (cold engine) the car seems to misfire slightly, well not so much misfire more of a bogged down type feeling, no throttle responce then suddenly picks up...it seems fine at WOT when warmed up...

When the air is damp or it is raining it gets worse...

I am going in for a service soon and was wondering if anyone could advise me on what this prob could be before hand, as i will let them check out the symptons...!!!

It's all a bit funny as the car has been running perfect for the last 2 months or so...

The Car:

67,000 Miles,
Run on Optimax,
STI 5/6 IC,
FULL SS De-cat + SS up-pipe,
HKS Mushroom Filter,
ScoobyECU,

I'm thinking it could be Coilpacks or Spark plugs (running 6b's), though i'm no mechanic...

Thanks in advance for any help...

John.

I am having a similar problem in mine m8

It even happens after I have warmed the car up but leave it sitting for say 10 mins

I have had the coilpacks, o2 sensor, spark plugs, maf, and ecu changed and none of these fixed it.

The only thing I can think is that there is no coolant in the engine

I have been putting water in the engine everyday but never done coolant.

I am thinking that the coolant sensor is getting an incorrect reading and thinking the car is always cold as the water cools down quicker without the coolant

I am sure someone will correct me though ?

Hi mate,

Sorry this is gonna sound dumb but when you say 'coolant' are you refering to an additive to the water that is put in rad when needed...

If so i have never done this...!!!

Anyone else have any ideas....

Cheers,

John.

1) Definitely need coolant. It helps to inhibit corrosion and limescale etc, so it is entirely possible you've knackered your temp sensor.

2) Coilpacks and HT leads and Plugs are all a good place to start.

3) Lamba sensor and MAF will also need checking out.

It'll be the plugs at the bottom of your steering column - there should be 2 green ones and 2 black ones, they may be taped up out of the way (but they will be there). Plug the 2 black ones together and turn the ignition on but dont start the car. The Check engine light will now flash - if it flashes at a constant pulse then there are no codes - if it flashses intermittantly then you will have 1 or more fault codes present.

Yep intermittant make a note of what you see - long flashes read as a unit of 10 short flashes read as a unit of 1 - hope this makes sense.
