Talking Dawes Device

Please forgive as i dont know what the pipes are called so i will call them "thingy"..

My mate has a dawes device and it sat between the actuator and the wastegate vac hose.

The other hose has a screw in it which is used to block it up.

This as far as i am aware is the full fitting instructions, but...

on the electronic wastegate the are more pipes and someone has T-pieced 2 pipes together with another Dawes...is this right

It seems to be closed completely and just joins 2 pipes together..is this just a waiste of a dd or does it need to be there for a reason

Sorry for the poor explanation....

If it does not need to be there then I am gonna have it for mine lol

What MY does your m8 have? Fitting is slightly different between Model/Years.

It could be a mechanical fuel cut defender. Does it go in the hose between the manifold and the MAP sensor...?

Exclamation Fuel Cut defender?

I agree with the Judge on this. I have a MY97 with a dawes and fuel cut defender. The FCD looks similar to the dawes but sits in between the MAP and the vacuum pipe from the engine. It allows you to run slightly higher boost levels than the ECU pre-set "cut", ie it fools the ecu and stops the fuel cut action. Make sure your mate has a knocklink as raising the boost and bi-passing the fuel cut is dangerous!

Yep it is this

I checked where the pipes ran last night

damn, thought i was getting a free Dawes

he hasnt got a knock Link but i told him to because it spikes on WOT

his boost guage reads 1.5 bar and then drops to about 1.3

think this is to do with him not having a Cat in sight

1.5 bar...!

Is it a UK MY98? What fuel is he running?

Persuade him to get a knocklink, ASAP. And get him to turn the boost down to about 1.1bar until then...
