can someone tell me if this is det..
On my my94, I reset the ecu and now when i put my foot down the car revs its head off without really doing much.
Is this the ecu cutting the fuel/ignition because of overboosting, or is it pre det.
This is baring in mind that when i bought the car it started doing this and then after a while it stopped. Could the ecu have retarded the timing to stop this happening, and how can i stop it doing it after a reset

Get yourself a knocklink to be absolutely certain of what it's doing.

Clutch Slip

Sorry, I mean it revs but does not go anywhere,
it has not done it for ages but now i have reset it is back,
also what is launch control actually controlled by, would the ecu do it, and if so would it change the settings depending on knock, fuel etc...
because my pick up problems seem to have gone but now it just revs its nuts off instead.....can i find a happy medium,
I have just been out and filled my car with £30 optimax and a octane booster
gonna reset again tonight and see if this helps out any

The ECU has no way of affecting the connection between engine and wheels so if the revs are changing when the speed is not then your clutch is dying. Barring some other part of the transmission being broken there is nothing else it can be. On the other hand if the revs do rise in line with the speed but it isn't pulling right then it could be ECU related.

Me too judge
cant think what it could be though,
why would a slipping clutch all of a sudden be normal again and then after months of being ok start slipping again.
I may just run it for a while and see if it goes back to normal.
Daft jap thing....

Is what i am describing not the ignition being cut from over boost. I know its running standard gear but if the wastegate was sticking would it over boost (and would this cause my dv26 to sound like a dying giraffe)

It won't be a release bearing issue. About the only thing that could happen there would be the nose of the bearing pulling out of the clip, and if that happened, you'd simply find the clutch would be permanently engaged, and pressing the pedal wouldn't do anything.
The one thing I do wonder is whether the rear crank oil seal is leaking, and oil is finding its way onto the friction surfaces, but the likeliest culprit at this time would be a knackered clutch.
If it's "revving but not going anywhere", something in the drivetrain must be slipping. If it was anything other than the clutch, the slip would be accompanied by easily noticeable and very unpleasant sounding noises.
Other thing you might want to explore is the possibility of the clutch fluid boiling - although this would only be a plausible explanation if the slipping started after giving the car an extended period of stick.
