Hi all,

Just a quick one.

My STiV is running a panel filter and 3.5 inc exhaust from turbo back (no cats). It has the follwing boost characterisitics and I woundered if they sound ok.

1st, 2nd 3rd

On foot to floor...peak boost 1.2 Bar and it settles at 1.0 ~1.1 Bar.

4th

On foot to floor (70mph) 1.25 Bar and it settles at 1.0 ~ 1.1 Bar

5th gear (120mph) foot to floor 1.3~1.35 Bar and settles at 1.1 Bar

The 5th gear seems to pink (det) for a sec when it spools upto 1.35 Bar. Is this OK just for a sec and infrequently????

If I touch the peddle a fraction first at 120mph to get the boost going, the over shoot is smaller. Maybe 1.2 ~ 1.25Bar

Just wondered if this sounds normal...no det audible at less than 1.2Bar.

My motor is getting checked out this week...with close attention to the ECU.

I guess what I am asking is any amount of det..(pinking) OK provded it is for half a second e.g, I get it only after 110mph when floored in 5th.

Cheers all....

Foz,

hi mate! Just wondered how u know it is detting? I assume you are not monitoring it with a kocklink as you haven't specifically said so. I didn't think you could generally hear it inside the car and if you could then thats really bad. What symptoms do you feel when you think its detting?

Cheers

Paul,

Have emailed you but suggest turn peak boost down with enlarged restrictor orifice as we discussed and get a Knocklink and things checked over fast - assuming your car has the same setup as mine which it looks like from your email.
