how many miles do plugs last ???

hi all.
I have a standard 2001 wrx with 24k on the clock. When i start the engine it takes quite a few turns for it to fire up !! is this normal ? could it be the plugs as it also stutters abit when accelerating hard. boost celenoid is ok. thanks all.

Not sure on new age but classics seem to have plugs lasting 2 years / 30,000 miles!
I suppose it's something to do with the plug design and materials ( platinum or iridium tips I think ? )

Siggy,do you let the fuel pump prime up before you try to fire her up ? you will hear it buzzing for a few seconds after you turn the ignition on when it stops then fire it up.
The plugs in the bugeye are supposed to last 60,000 miles but i changed mine at 25k and it felt much better.I have just done a mates MY01 (30K) and he is well happy now the plugs have been swapped.

BTW, the NGK platinum tipped spark plugs fitted as standard to turbocharged Imprezas are more than able to cope with the 30,000 mile replacement interval, provided the engine's running correctly.

Wiv std boost they should last that long no probs. I've done 30k in total, but with increase in boost in stages, found the plugs had worn giving the odd engine misfire error code - on inspection, the plug tips were round (worn). Have a look at one of them, just to see condition. Drivers side, near filter box is easiest (don't try washer bottle side - pain in the neck to remove and re-install).
