A month or so ago I had a decat downpipe & up pipe fitted to my 01 Bugeye but never fitted the CEL fix and all has been fine.. until yesterday when the CEL came on.

I'm pretty sure its because of the decat, but is there anyway of finding out the what the fault is just in case it isnt the decat ?

I know on the classic that you can plug a couple of connectors together to find the fault but as far as I know this cant be done on bugeyes

any advice welcome

Either a dealer or a friendly person with DeltaDash, or do the connector routine under the dash and count the flashes then post the result.

cheers Bob.

I thought the flashing CEL thing only worked on classics though ??

I only have 2 green connectors under the dash and when i plug these together all that happens is the CEL continuosly flashes and it goes through somesort of test cycle with the fans and relays

You're correct in thinking the check engine light can't be probed on MY01< cars. Bob must be suffering a bit of a hangover!

As you suspect, the decat is the likeliest cause of the CEL, but bearing in mind you're running a Superchip, anything is possible TBH. Need to get it checked out on a DeltaDash/Select Monitor.

Will do first thing monday morning, Cheers GM

I'm Planning on an EcuTEK remap sometime in the new year.

I think I'll "try" and install the cel fix tomorrow though and see if the light goes out

Thumbs up

I was running a full decat on my MY01 and as long as the CEL aint flashing then its CO related ie its your decat thats at fault. I was paranoid and refitted the cats but the light stayed on for a wee while (one "drive cycle") after, I assume that if you fit a CEL fix kit it wont turn the CEL off immediately.

cheers spooks, never thought of that. not sure if I'm capable enough to fit the CEL fix, but even if I manage it I'll get it checked out anyway.

I'm pretty sure thats all it is, but better safe than sorry.

whats the going rate for garages to plug my car up and check for ECU faults ?
