What tyres?

Soon be time for 4 new tyres. I'm currently on Toyo`s. Are these still a good tyre, or is there a better alround tyre, really after maximun grip in all conditions, what about Pirellis?

Vredesteins are ok too, just as good as toyo's and about the same price. I tend to find toyos are a bit scarce on the ground.
I've not seen many good reports on pirelli's, most dont seem to like them once they get past half worn, so a lot of tyre to throw away.

Maximum grip = minimum life you dont get owt for nowt in this world lol.
I always used yokohamas but as I havent had to fit any on the scoob yet I dont know how well they would perform. They were a brilliant tyre for road rallying though

Try the Avon ZZ3, i'm running them on my MY01 and compared to the Toyo's that i had on previously they are a world apart.
The grip in the wet is fantastic, the Toyo's are dodgy to say the least in the wet even with 5mm left on them.
My confidance in the car is now restored and i would highly recommend them.

Scooby Regular
This should help
The F1's do not last longer than the Toyos (contrary to what has been said above) and one track day or a real sprited drive will feather the edges a bit too easily for my liking. That's with geometry 100% and pressures up to 35psi front.
F1's still easily better than the Toyos as they let go just far too early especially in the damp

As i said above I have pirelli p zeros at the moment and they seem great in any conditions, i previously had dunlops and the pirellis are far better IMO,
what does everyone think of the pirellis??
Not trying to steal your thread mate!!, i am, as you are, just interested in comparing the tyres????

I like the F1's, there's probably tyres that have more ultimate grip, but the Goodyears are very progressive and give loads of feedback and wet grip is about 95% of dry grip.

Hello all
I am in the same boat here, just about to get a set of tires on my 93wrx
need to get the right size as well at the moment on 205/40 on 17" rims and the tyres are stretched across rims, so going to go to 215, also the 40 profile is a bit harse so thinking of going to a 45 profile so i can go a bit mad down bumpy lanes!! Any thoughts on this
I am too looking at toyo's or F1's, Obviously at this time of year its gonna be damp/wet/greasy a lot so a good tyre choice for the winter months is deffo, prolly wont last till the summer anyway
Any more ideas chaps

I went to 215s to get away from pirellis. Their performance in the wet is nowhere near as good as say F1s. I'm on Bridgestone S03s at the moment, which are much better than Pirellis, but I will get F1s next (Cheaper)
Most people put 215/40s(slightly smaller overall diameter than standard) on their 17s, I have 215/45s(slightly larger than standard) which are fine, but I think I will go to 40s next time as the sidewall is stiffer and therefore better on the limit capability. The ride may be a bit harsher though......
205/40s will be too small and your speedo will overread.
What I would like to know is whether 225/40/17s are OK as these almost exactly match the o/a dia of the standard 205/50/16. Would they rub? Anyone tried them?
