Got a mate with a MY01 who had some defi's fitted a short while ago.
When i looked at them and pressed the peek button the boost was peeking at 1.5 bar.
My mate told me that it was ok due to other bits he has done to the car, Motec, Larger top mount cooler, larger jets and larger turbo.

Should i be concerned for his sake?

If he's had a motec fitted, it sounds like he probably had it mapped by someone who at least had half a clue.
With an uprated intercooler, and good fuelling (by the motec & injectors) and probably higher fuel pressure, he should be fine, though personally I would want to make sure his fuel pump was upto the job. This is also the upper limit of what I would feel comfortable running on standard internals, though I am sure others have run more. How long was the peak for?
