I might have an ECU you can buy when David's mapped it. I bought a second one, post to David, then swap when it comes back.

Depending on your car.. if its a wrx then it needs a socket soldering in..
its a 28pin dil socket.. nothing too hard to do BUT..
** word of warning **
if we do it then we charge, some people dont want to pay this.. fine if you can solder a double sided board with through plated holes.. which are filled with solder. If you cant then this isnt the place to practice your soldering skills. just becuase you can 'join' two wires doesnt mean you can solder it.
STI's if you must do an sti ecu then the 28pin IC is soldered direct to the board.. This IS VERY hard to remove..
If i was to do one of these then I would want circa £100 for fitting a socket.. and also the way 'I' would do it is to cut each leg off on the IC making it useless.. then undsolder each leg from the pcb and then fit a socket..
if its a uk car then simply plug the board into the socket, that is kindly fitted as std.. and then cut a link on the ecu (not any link ) refit cover to the ecu, refit ecu to car, replace carpet and enjoy.

Hi David,
Correct me if im wrong here but having to install a socket and cut a link to me infers there is a selection process as to where the ecu reads the map from, if this is the case can you have switchable maps?
I havnt had the opertunity to look at the ECU in mine yet but will get round to it at some point. Is the origanal map also stored in an eprom ? and is it possible to change this map?
I am intrested as I would like to have selectable maps one for me and one for the missis, (can you lower the rev limiter? she seems to like hitting the rev limiter in my bmw and sees this as some form of change gear indicator!! )
Cheers

David,
Why wouldn't you use a Manual Boost Controller with the ScoobyEcu ? Because of Leaner fueling & people getting over zelous with the amount of boost they run etc.
Thanks

Yes you could switch between std map and another map..
If you did an address shift you could probably squeeze two maps in the eproms.. Its not something we have really bothered to look at..
the main reason most people run a mbc is to increase boost.. These boards are 'mapped' for more boost.. so why not just let the ecu control boost..
My old map used to control boost up to 22psi.. with no mbc..
I am now using an aftermarket ecu and two solenoids controlling an external wastegate.. however there are cars about to run over 500bhp with the std ecu..
You could use a dawes to try and improve spool up.. also the fuel cut is retained unlike with a superchip.

I would say they are as good as an ECUTEK reflash, but they are the same thing for a different year of ECU in effect.
Soon, we shall what the factory ECU can really do.
