For anyone who hasn't fitted a Scoobyecu...
#1
Thanks for the positive comments Dave.... that's what I like to hear.
For anyone that want's more details please mail me staylor@compd.com and I'll mail you back more details including costs.
Or See http://www.scoobyecu.co.uk which is Davids site and has his contact details and a link to my 'OLD' install/background info Note: This info is 'Old' as I can now supply genuine Chips that do not require the ScoobyECU Adaptor.
Current ECU's that have already been mapped succesfully :
UK Saloon - V7, 7D
UK Wagon - V7, 7D
WRX Saloon - U8, 2C, W6, W9, 7K, Z4
WRX Wagon - 3B, V9
Croatian Wagon - V6
Aus WRX Saloon - V7
Swedish Saloon - 6D
If you have anything other than the above, I'm sure it can be done. But may require a couple of hits.

Scot t any idea what is happening with mine and greenos board?
Both MY 96 uk I think. I was dealing with David but have not heard anything back for a while now.
Can the board be changed for the new style chips that you are on about?

Blitz Imp Reza,
I'm waiting for a board back from David too, can you send me an email telling me what probs you had with it, just wondering if it's the same as mine...
I'm sure David will sort it all asap, after all he does do it as a favour....
Madgrip,
The scoobyecu is basically a re-map of your old ECU that raises boost, timing, fueling etc, thus giving extra power and better drivability...
Laters,
John.

OK, to answer a few questions:
It cost me £90 for the Scoobyecu and fitting through Scott.T (included Scott soldering a socket to my ECU)
On the MY93, the boost is raised from 12.5psi to 15.5psi and Scott estimates around 40bhp increase, which I can believe, the difference in power is amazing.
Apart from the boost increase, fuelling and timing is much improved, so driveability is a lot better. The car is smoother and faster. Don't know about fuel consumption but so far it seems to be about the same as before (I was getting 21mpg)
Most importantly for me, my car no longer loses power after 10 minutes hard driving and there are no flat spots or hesitation while the ECU decides what to do.
I'll be at Well Lane 6 in October, I posted 249bhp at WL5 and have made no other major changes, so we'll see what the difference is

OK will do,
I take it that knock correction etc. will still be inplace, just up some of the params. Cannot see how you can up the boost etc on an import without making other changes etc elsewhere on the map, else I would have thought you would start to get detonation with our fuel.

If you dealt with David, then David's your man as we work independantly.
These upgrades/remaps were conceived by David, Myself and Paul (PAVLO).
Once the idea was proven and working we all went our seperate ways with regard to remapping our own and fellow enthusiasts cars.
I can supply you a chip (I used to sell the adaptors, until my stock ran out) but you'll have to pay for it.

I CURRENTLY HAVE A Z4 ECU ON A MY95 WRX , WHICH AT THE MOMENT IS SUPACHIPPED BY PREVIOUS OWNER , WHAT WOULD BE THE ADVANTAGES OF REMOVING SUPA CHIP AND BLEED VALVE AND FITTING AN SCOOBY ECU ,WOULD I LOOSE POWER ,

Dav,
Depends what the Superchip is set to. All the Superchip does is add a boost clamp which then allows the bleed valve to increase the boost beyond the standard fuel-cut limit.
16psi is superchips recommended setting, but with a bleed valve the owner can set it to whatever.
If you are running 16psi on the standard map it could be detting (a UK probably would, but the WRX 'might' be O.K).
The Z4 has a good standard fuel/ignition map, but I wouldn't want to push it any further than 15-16psi without either getting it checked or fitting a Knocklink.

Nope...
Different technology used in the Pre96 ECU allows the extra 'remapped' chip to be fitted.
99/00 ECU remap the exisitng chip on the ECU PCB.
This chip/map was made secure by adding password protection and specail loading protocol to prevent aftermarket remapping. However, as you probably know ECUTEK cracked it.
