When I plant my foot to the floor in 4th and 5th gear the revs start moving up the scale and then there is a bump and the car don't wanna go no-more. Its like I am taking my foot off the accelerator and the dump valve chirps each time. Is this the start of gearbox failure?

 

Dont think it's your gearbox, sounds a bit like the ecu overboost kicking in and cutting fuel. Try searching for "overboost" threads to compare with your symptoms.

 

Sounds like overboost. The ecu is doing its job by cutting fuel. You need to find the reason for the overboost situation (if that's what it is)

do u have a boost control on it? set it to high? could be the problem if u have

 

no boost controller on his car! in fact its all very standard as he hasnt had it long!

Cheers guys for your responses, much appreciated. I was told exactly the same by a few people and the car is booked in tommorrow for diagnosis by Dr Scoobysports. Hopefully be back up and running by wednesday.
