Question

As the title states, where is the up-pipe on a MY01, just out of noseyness.

Currently have decat centre, WR sport BB and ITG panel filter.

Next is hopefully ECUTech, not sure whether to change up-pipe first?

Also how long does it take to change one?

It is on the driver's side towards the back of the engine bay, down by the chassis leg, running up to the bottom of the turbo.

It is well worth changing it to remove the cat there. The cat requires richer fuel mixtures and causes exhaust gas back pressure. This leads to lower power outputs for the same boost, and limits ignition timing. Effectively it kills the volumetric efficiency of your engine.

JB,

What's involved in changing it?

For ECUTech upgrade should I also change the intercooling pipe work, not looking for too much....265-270bhp would be nice.

Also thought about APS TMIC but I've only just stopped pi**ing the missus off about the ECUTech, should I pi** her off some more or will the standard TMIC be OK?

Cheers

For your target do the complete exhaust, stick with the standard intercooler and change the intercooler hoses.

The uppipe can be changed in two ways - take off the downpipe then the turbo and do it from the top, or remove a bit of manifold from underneath, release uppipe from the turbo at the top and drop it down (without taking out the half moon rocker cover seal in the process and not noticing ). The second option is arguably quicker (if you don't do in the rocker cover plug

Would say allow 1-2 hours labour by a mechanic to do the uppipe, but if bolts are dodgy could be longer. If doing yourself, depends....

Admittedly, it was the 1st one they'd done on a new age.
