Hiya chaps,
I've had a Forge VTA on my MY00 for about 6 months now and all is well. Last night i noticed that instead of a nice crisp PSSSST i was getting a rather limp ssssshhhhhhttt. Boost is still fine and pipes seem ok.
Forge are sending me new internals for the dump valve to hopefully cure the problem.
However, what could it be if it's not the forge?
First person to say my MAF is knackered .........

Cheers POC and as for you MaTTEL, thought you'd gone dude You know, sold the scoob etc.
Definatley the VTA by the way, was driving through traffic and the idling went all spastic on me quite embarrasing really sat at traffic lights going vroom vroom just to stop it from stalling.
Took it home put the OE recirc back on and now runs normally
Talk about placebo, because there is now silence between gear changes, i'd swear the car seems smoother and thus faster but as we all know, DV's don't make your car any quicker.
Roll on tommorrow so the forge can go back on
Mikey
PS Forge were brilliant by the way, listened to my problem and without any quibble said that they would send out all the internals straight away Now that's service

there is only a spring and piston inside. Bet you £5 if you take it apart and use some high temp grease all will be fine, cant see that there is anything wrong with the internals.....
Show me the money!

POC I took it apart this morning (Not clever with a suit on i tell ya ) cleaned it all out and put some grease in whacked it back on and no change. Inside the Forge there are two springs (Large and Small. Large being the famous Blue,Red or Yellow interchangable jobs) The Piston, 2 x rubber O rings, and an end plate that the small spring sits on.
The small spring when placed on the table was not sitting level, almost as if it had been compressed but only on one side so it was like the leaning tower of pizza.
I reckon it has got summat to do with that spring.
Thanks for ya input though, i reckon you are right just keeping my fingers crossed that when new internals and grease applied, the chap works again.

Trying to get your original dump valve back on is a real **** of a job
I had to give up before I stuck a screwdriver through the intercooler, C**T
Back to the dealer, let the grown-ups fix it, bah...

'koff, twice as much but do the same thing just louder
Only kidding Couldn't justify the difference in price. I know there may be quality issues here, but if the forge is ok apart from a twice yearly clear out then i'm in

Mikey - I'm still here and still have the car with a proper DV (HKS all the way). Just not posting as much, too many new people that spout rubbish.
BTW WD40 on rubber O rings is something to be avoided. Better using a silicone based lube.
