Default Max bhp on a semi-closed deck

I have a forged 2.5ltr Hawk, however the block is still semi-closed. I'm considering going for 400+ bhp and would like to know if I would be able to safely run a TD05-20g turbo on the semi-closed deck?

Thanks

I was told so long as the piston rings are uprated then big BHP is possible on the EJ blocks, it's the torque you need to keep low. Big Turbo/low boost, lag central.

Thanks, I'm still hoping to run it off the TMIC so hopefully the lag shouldn't be too noticeable.

you should be ok up to around 450bhp with the right supporting mods, the boost levels required to get higher than that tend to be what does it rather than a specific power figure.

If your still on a top mount then your gonna be limited to under 400 anyway, anythig beyond that will start to get inlet temp issues.

its the Hyperpeutic pistons on the EJ257 (and the later EJ20 JDM cars) that are the issue / nothing to do with piston rings..............

on a std factory EJ257 then I would be wary at 400 without installing a proper set of forged pistons

Thanks all. It is forged. I hope the displacement from a 2.5 engine won't mean too much lag on a TD05-20g and any extra piping from a FMIC.

I don't think lag will be a problem on a td05-20g, but I also don't think you'll make much more than 400.

Is it a billet wheeled 20g?

I haven't fully decided on the make of turbo or whether it is billet wheeled. I guess you'd expect a quicker spool and slightly higher boost from a billet wheel?
Thanks

a billet wheel will flow enough - the turbine and housing have trouble over 1.8 bar though --the torque will be lovely though in the mid range, dont get too hung up on the numbers
