Default 600 BHP Rods and Pistons.

Hi guys, i want to know as above what rods and pistons are proven up to 600 bhp, now i'm not actually going for 600 but want to build in a saftey margin.

I already have a set of forged Eagle rods that are supposed to be able to hit my target of 500 ish, anyone got any experience of these and there real world figures / capability.

Now i know 500 is expensive and i'm not going for it all in one go, i plan on doing it in stages over a couple of years, but just want to make sure that what i put in IS truly capable of the figures i'm after.

It's a newage so i figure to make it decently quick it needs to be very close to a true 500 bhp.

Also planining on taking the 2.1 route, if that makes a difference to piston choice..

Hi there
best combo and mostly used are Cosworth pistons(i've these at mine) with Cosworth rods and 14mm ARP studs.

About the Eagle rods, these rods are rated to 500bhp(i'm sure out there are two models of Eagle rods)

If you want good rods have look for Carrillo or K1 rods which are mostly used with Cosworth rods, these rods are proven for 600bhp

I think Cosworth are the best but V pricey. Iv got Manley rods with Mahle pistons. The eagles are OK for lower power but over 400bhp Iv heard they can fail.

Eagle rods would be a push at 500 apparently. 450 is the safe limit. You'd be better off with newage STi rods...
