Default SC50 on a 2.1?

I've sent my SC42+ back to Scoobyclinic as I've decided to go bigger, I was up untill just now going to go for the SC46.

However I've just noticed for hardly anything extra in the grand scheme I could get a SC50!

The car is being built mainly for drag, so I'm not too fussed about road driving, would this tunbo be OK on my (engine tuner) 2.1 stroker?

SC46 would be what i would go for on a 2.1 the SC50 would be OK as well but expect more lag,i would probably run one on a 2.35 or a forged built 2.5 but the SC46 standard position turbo would be the daddy on a 2.1 build.SJ.

I'm planning a NOS installation early next year, so I'm guessing that would help with the lag?

You are correctif your thinking along those lines the SC50 will work fine with a little help down the rev range,Is your car going to be strictly drag or is it going to be used in fast road spec for the streets as well?.SJ.

Hi there

As above Adrian@SJ said,SC46 should be better choice or MDX321T,on 2.1L SC50 will be laggy, you can have AVCS heads, but still be laggy

I know only one guy who run SC50 on the 2.1 and this turbo has been on laggier side, this turbo is suited more for 2.35 or 2.5L

Although NOS will help to spool turbo and if its set right, you will never notice lag,we run only 25hp NOS jet and we are hit on 2.1L full boost at 3000-3500RPM on MDX321T

Thanks,Jura

I'm kind of commited to Scoobyclinics range, as I've already bought one of theirs and it's being PXed for the new one.

I did fancy a GT30 but it's rotated only, and that's to much cash atm with everything else.

I'll not be using this very often on the streets at all, as it's now completely striped. 2 front seats left and that's it.

OK, so 25hp jets make a big enough difference? I was expecting 50 to be honest. At least the bottle will laast longer with 25s

Hi there

From my personal point of view,I wouldn't go with any standard location turbo, because you will still want more like we are been, due this I would go with Scoobyclinic GT30 or Billet GT30,Borg Warner

Custom Rotated kit will cost you in region £400-£500,wastegate another £200 and you will have nice setup which on right setup will be awesome to drive and make 550bhp

With standard location to get to this power, you will need SC54

If car is only for drag and track days,I would go deffo with GT30 .63AR

Thanks,Jura

Hi there

We are used NOS for spool up,not for top end and NOS lasted pretty well long, you will definitely feel difference with 25HP NOS jet

50HP NOS jet,not sure,we are wanted to run 80hp NOS jet on 2.35L with SC GT30 .63AR,but turbo spools so nicely and we are got full boost on the road before 4k RPM

Thanks,Jura

If it is mainly for drag use an SC50 will be the better turbo as it'll have longer legs. Choose head/cam spec wisely and it'll work really well.
Gearing is important too as the UK 6 speed has a nasty jump in rpm from 4th to 5th.
