Default Wheel refurbs

Well their long overdue, but seeing as I'm out of the country again next week, I'm going to have my wheels tarted up to their original glory.

Is there any recommendations for our home county? Preferably somewhere that'll remove and refit tyres.

I have 2 places on my list.

Spit and polish based in tonbridge. - recommended by a guy at work.
Jp polishing in canvey, have read good reviews about them from the forum in the past.

Many thanks.

I've used JP for my Clio wheels. Decent service at a decent price.
If you want the best then go to Lepsons in Kent, but the price is a fair bit more Dan.

Avoid! I had my PFF7's re-painted there using his total re-furb process (chemical strip, shot blast, powdercoat etc. The finished product was no more than 'OK'. After less than two years I saw bubbling in places and eventually some of the clear coat started to peal. In the mean time, I had the wifes Mazda3 wheels re-furbed there and the same thing happened with the clear coat peeling off. I have since had the PFF7's re-done at www.paintituk.com (just down the road from Skidmarques where the alignment day takes place on 17 March) and so far they're fine.

Ah, sorry to hear that John.
Mine have been done for about a year now and so far so good. Agreed the job isn't a show stopper, but wasn't expensive either. Lol

Don't use Spit & Polish, had a Brabus Sl500 at work yesterday that had the wheels just done there and they were really poor.
I used to think Lepsons were excellent, but I've seen alot of their work, and it's touch and go, some are excellent, some are poor! (Must depend on the person)

A mate of mine had his Clio wheels done at Lepsons 2 years ago and they came out spot on and are lasting really well, last month he got his Skyline wheels done by them and they had to do them twice before he was happy with them, but they still haven't got the centre caps to his satisfaction.

Looks like it's ... Flip a coin mate and hope for the best

But just to add to this ...

When i went to jamie at classic scooby bits

He was showing me the bodge job someone done on re-furbing his wheels !

And yes they were proper dog sh@t !!! All the holes for the wheel nuts had not been prepped and they just re-coated over the old powder coat !!!!!!

Then he found someone else re-do them , And i must admit they did look brand new ! And he was very happy with them too ! And if you know Jamie , his attention to detail is second to none

Probably worth dropping him a message on FB, to see what he can do for you

And his only up the road to you too

Going to make some calls Tomoz and sort this out. Might need a new wheel though due to the wheel nut scenario. Hope fully have them done next week so I can come home to some nice shiny circles

The car will be tastefully updated ready for the next meet. Not quite the standard of frayz car, but quite impressive by my standards

How long ago was that mate? Did they need a lot of work? Or just a straight strip and respray?

They were stripped, kerbing removed from one wheel and changed colour from Anthracite to Black.

Been done around a year to 18 months now with no issues.

Whilst I had my wheels done, I had JP fit my in TPMS at the same time .

I can say ive seen both examples of Jamies. the bodge job is well and truly crap, but the job "his mate" did for him was something special, plus it took his mate 24hrs!! Jamie and his guys recently rebuilt my rear arches on my RB (pics are on the ESOC Facebok page) and the entire job was amazing. i am hoping to also get my wheels redone, so am glad i saw this post!
