Default Tyres and wheel refurbishment

Chaps, and lasses.

I'm currently on the search for some new black circles to fit my new wheels. I'm looking at 215/35/17, but there are not so many options about so am also looking at 215/40/17. Any recommendations on where to look/go?

Also looking to have the wheels refurbed - again, any recommendations?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming (judging by your username) you have a classic? If so I'm pretty sure that 215/40/17 is the correct size. 35 profile is only needed on 18s.

Correct, I have an RB5. A 35 can fit 17s and looks very nice, however the option of tyre is very limited and not all brands provide them so may end up going with the 40.

Normally use https://www.tyreleader.co.uk , but surprisingly I got mine supplied and fitted at halfords at Raleigh weir.

Toyo proxes 215/40/17 £314 supplied ,fitted and balanced .

Using 35's will lower the gearing a little and put the speedo out a bit as well as giving you a harsher ride.
For wheel re-furb look to Paint-it UK in Billaricay

^^ as above ^^ 215/40 is by far the best size on standard 17's.

Kev, I have always used Camskill for tyres, and its funny as I did go for Toyo Proxes TR1 215/40/17 - delivered £268. a friend of mine runs a tyre shop so balance and fitting was free.

wheel refurb, I went with a recommendation from my tyre shop pal. Bling Wheels in SWF. He does a 24hr turnaround service and I am very happy with them - not to mention he spent a long time trying to mix a pewter colour for powder coating!

Found a great selection on tyresshopper.Co.UK and blackcircles.Co.uk for sub £300 fitted and balanced. What would be the best recommended tyre for 205/40/17 for day to day use (sometimes fast cornering on mid Wales roads) but decent life???

Default Wheel Refurbs

Can recommend these guys in Colchester for wheel refurbs. Had my Honda HRV alloys powder coated and they were great.
