M.A.F help
the check engine light came on a couple of days ago,and i was told that the oil pick up mesh could be blocked,so off with the sump and cleaned the mesh, light still came on but as before it was intermitant, but now it holds back and pops and bangs a bit more than it did,so i looked in my auto date and checked the blink codes, its come up with maf sensor and knock sensor.
if anyone can help in any way it would be much appreciated

Did you disconnect the battery while taking the sump off ? If so its probably reset your ECU and its hitting the fuel cutoff while your driving it , try a few miles of gentle driving to allow the ECU to relearn its parameters

Bypass the map ? Essex to Kent translation may have been lost ?
To bypass the MAF you would need access to compensation tables and the addition of a Air temp sensor into your Intercooler like the Simtek. Pretty sure ESL can't do that mate ?
Maf from a breakers isn't gonna be much. Try HDC SUBARU - parts .. breaking .. salvage .. consumables.. mail order , very good on parts Paul.
