Right, here's a dilema I've got. When I got my scooby in July I knocked the price down to £4100, it had originally been up for £5200. To cut a long story short the bloke had agreed to sell to a friend who had then been banned for 3months. The bloke I bought it from was desperate to sell as he had lost his job and needed £4100 to buy a pick up for his new job, hence me paying £4100.
However as I bought it locally the chap who originally wanted it has seen me around town and approached me last Thursday evening in a pub. He has offered me £5200 for the scoob and given me until next Friday to make up mind. Although the body work isn't in the best condition the engine has only done 20K since a rebuild by Subaru so the performance is bloody good.
Would you sell for a £1100 profit in 5 months or would you keep what you had? I dare say I could get one in better condition for £5200, decisions decisions!

I'd sell it myself - but whats to say, that you sell it - buy another one that looks great etc etc with better body work - but you drive it for a few months and the engine blows up and costs you MORE than your profit to re-build?
I guess it comes down to whether you were wanting to sell it in the first place - better the devil you know!

If the one you have has good mechanicals, why sell?
You may buy one that looks better, but six months down the line a new engine/gearbox might be needed.......I'll sell you mine for £5000......looks great.....but you will need to replace the gearbox in about 6 months
although you wouldn't notice on a test drive ![Smile](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
As ms Gooner said...."better the devil you know"

It really depends how much you like the car. Having owned it 6 months have you had enough and fancy a change? If so, take the money and run and move on.
If not, hold onto it. It seems you got a great deal back in July. Therefore, you may still make a profit or not suffer any depreciation when you do come to sell in the future.
If it was me, I'd take the money. It's the easiest way of you'll ever get to making a grand. Plus there are loads of low milage/good condition Scoobs on the market if you want to keep with the marque.

Mmmmmmm.. I had a similar dilemma a few years ago...a 17yr old lad , who worked for my brother-in-law, had got an inheritance(£70k+), he'd heard of my car (ibiza gti cupra sport)& wanted a test drive, i wasnt to happy, 1. car wasnt for sale, 2. teenage test-pilot!!.....but bro-in-law said he was serious!!
So....... he had his test drive, after which he offered me £8k
... ( it was worth about £5.5k trade -in, had it from new , 3yr old, 65k miles) i told him to go away & get ins quotes... next day he rang & offered £7k.. i said no, we settled on £7250.![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

If you sell it would it be for cash ? It sounds a little too good to be true in a way , as the guy must know what you paid for the car if he was a friend of the previous owner . I would insist on cash if I was in your position , to avoid any dodgy cheques
