Tire help....
Clipped a curb yesterday and managed to put a small slit in the thick part of the side wall of my tire.....
It's not lost any air, but I'm a bit nervous about it......
Can these things be repaired? or is it new tire time?
If so, anyone know the details for the guy at leigh tires?

If it is the wide lip that sits out to protect the wheel, that is standard on some tyres, you should be ok. Depends on the depth. If it is the sidewall and you can see any white cords in the split, it will need replacing. If you dont have the rim protector lip then it will need replacing 
Can you post up a pic? as it is hard to say without seeing it.

It's about 7mm long and about 4 mm deep? (theres no white cord)

If you are concerned then i think I would just get a new tyre.
At the end of the day the tyres are the only thing keeping the car with you and your family in it on the road, it's not worth risking it IMO for the sake of the price of one tyre.
Last thing you want is a blow-out at high speed or during hard cornering!

Just didn't want to if it could be repaired? I wouldn't leave it.....

i just bought some tyres from Warning tyres 4 cars, 4x4s, trucks, motorbikes at LOW Prices ahead great prices and pretty much next day delivery. will be using them again.

As said, if you don't feel confident, get a second opinion from a tyre shop or buy a new one. As I understand it the protective lip is not structural and therefore the tyre will still be legal to drive on. My Toyo's have several splits in the protective lip and are fine....I've gotta learn to drive the car without hitting kerbs

BTW, I haven't stopped smiling from the last time I visited!!!!!
BUT! with wife now claims she will have to invest in a heavy duty sports bra when travelling in my car now.
